The goal of Protect Kendall Now! is to increase the pace of land conservation in Kendall County. With the rapid pace of development, we simply have to protect open space faster and more efficiently. The three phases of the project will accomplish this goal.
In partnership with many public and private agencies, The Conservation Foundation initiated the project and secured a bulk of the funding. A full time project manager was hired to coordinate the day-to-day duties and provide leadership to the project.
More about The Conservation Foundation... It is one of the region's oldest and largest private, not-for-profit land and watershed conservation organizations. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life by preserving open space, protecting natural lands, and improving rivers and watersheds. The Conservation Foundation is dedicated to promoting positive environmental activities in DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will Counties, Illinois. Together with more than 3,500 members and donors and 500 volunteers, the Foundation works in partnership with corporations, schools, forest preserve districts, county and municipal governments, conservation groups and individuals to preserve open space that will provide an invaluable resource for generations to come.
Providing a reasoned voice on conservation issues between those who wish to continue development of the four county areas served and those who want to safeguard the environment, the Foundation believes there is room at the table for both voices. In addition, the Foundation believes the balance sought will serve the long-term needs of the residents.
